I have worked with wood most of my adult life. I retired from a transportation related job in 2005 and a frend asked me to make him something that was round and required a lathe, I didn’t have any. I thought a lathe would be a good addition to my already increasing tool collection, so I did my homework and considered the options. I was aware of a woodturning club here in Memphis which I attended in early 2006. I was hooked; checking out the instant gallery I couldn’t believe such beautiful items could be made on a lathe.
Since that introduction to woodturning, I have attended schools such as John C. Campbell, Arrowmont and Marc Adams as well as numerous symposiums both domestic and international. I was privileged to serve as the president of MSWG for four years and was honored by MSWG with a lifetime membership in 1997. I have given numerous demonstrations and serve as a mentor.
